MCC 2017

The Student Alumni Association, sponsored by the UCR Alumni Association, invites you to the 19th annual Career Exploration Conference in Health & Medicine. UCR Alumni and friends will lead sessions where they will discuss various careers possible within the health and medical industry. The program will include keynote speakers, breakout sessions and an admissions presentation from the UCR School of Medicine (SOM). A continental breakfast and networking luncheon are included in the price.

ASSOCIATE DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
HEALTH SCIENCES CLINICAL PROFESSOR - FAMILY MEDICINE


Dr. Emma Simmons, M.D., M.P.H., is a clinical professor and associate dean of student affairs at the UC Riverside School of Medicine. In addition, she practices medicine at the Access Clinic at Riverside University Health System - Medical Center.

As associate dean, Simmons participates in student recruitment and retention and is responsible for student well-being, serving as academic and personal advisor to medical students and also for undergraduates in UCR’s pipeline programs that prepare students for professional careers in medicine and health.

Simmons came to UC Riverside in 2011 from the Albert Medical School at Brown University, where she has been assistant dean for minority medical affairs and an assistant professor in the department of family medicine.

She also served as the assistant director of health disparities research at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where she was also a staff physician.

After earning her B.S. in chemistry from Tougaloo College, she went on to earn her M.D. and M.P.H. degrees at Brown University. She completed her residency in family medicine at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.

Simmons is a member of the American Academy of Family Practitioners.
